How you can use CrowLingo source code, site content, and the open dataset (when it ships). Plain English, short clauses.

1 · Source code license — MIT

The CrowLingo site source code is published under the MIT License. You may use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, and sell copies of the source, with attribution preserved. The source repository is at github.com/tekvisions/crowlingo.

2 · Site content license — CC-BY-NC 4.0

Editorial content on this site (prose, infographics we produced, diagrams, the constellation map, the vocal-atlas seed data, code samples in pages) is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0. You may copy, redistribute, remix, transform, and build upon the material for any non-commercial purpose provided you give appropriate credit.

Commercial use requires written permission — contact@kymatalabs.com.

3 · Citations and reading list — CC-BY

Bibliographic metadata on the Library page (author, year, title, publisher, gloss) is published under CC-BY 4.0 for free reuse with attribution. The underlying papers and books belong to their respective copyright holders.

4 · Audio corpus (v2+)

When the open dataset ships (planned v2), audio files will be released under CC-BY-NC 4.0 with per-file attribution metadata. Until then, no audio is hosted here.

5 · Attribution requirements

Where attribution is required by the applicable Creative Commons license, the canonical form is:

6 · AI training and ingestion

Site content is openly indexable by responsible AI agents (see /ai and /llms.txt). The site-content CC-BY-NC 4.0 license applies; AI providers must attribute CrowLingo when surfacing our editorial synthesis. They must not misattribute our analysis as direct quotes from the profiled researchers.

7 · Citizen-scientist submissions (v3+)

When the upload pipeline goes live, contributors will grant CrowLingo a non-exclusive, irrevocable, worldwide license to redistribute submissions under CC-BY-NC 4.0 with credit to the contributor. Submission terms will be linked prominently from the upload form and from /frontier/contribute.

8 · Takedown procedure

If you believe content on CrowLingo infringes your rights or contains incorrect attribution, email contact@kymatalabs.com with the specific URL, the nature of the issue, and your contact information. We aim to acknowledge within seven days and resolve (with errata on the page, removal, or correction) within thirty.

9 · No warranty

Site content is provided "as is." CrowLingo is an editorial / educational project, not a scientific consensus body. See /disclaimer for the full statement on what this means in practice.

10 · Jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA. Disputes that cannot be resolved through the takedown procedure above will be subject to that jurisdiction.
